Introduction
The aim of the experiment Hysteresis and Domain Patterns in Magneto-Optical Materials was to investigate the formation of magnetic domains in magnetisable materials. In particular a Magneto-Optical-Magnetometer (MOM) was employed to obtain hysteresis loops for various samples and a single sample was used for viscosity analysis. Magnetic domain formation was then observed for a particular sample using a Kerr microscope. It was discovered that the domains have a tendency to form in the same locations each time the sample is magnetised.
