Pre-conference Drinks
These will be from 7pm - 9pm on Thursday 4th August, at Paul Abbott's house,
5 Harvey Rd Shenton Park. There will be wine, beer, soft drinks and finger food.
Its free for conference attendees, $15 for adult guests and $5 for children.
How to get there: You can drive, catch a taxi, or a train. A useful map of the area is
available here.
Harvey Rd is about halfway between Shenton Park and Karakatta train stations.
If you turn off Aberdare Rd into John St, you run into Harvey Rd at Paul's house.
Multi-restaurant Outing
On Friday, shortly after the end of the first days proceedings, we plan split into smaller
groups and go to a number of restaurants, mostly within walking distance of the university.
The idea is that at least one invited speaker will be at each restaurant.
If you have family/friends who will also be coming along, they can meet you at the
University Club at 6:30pm.
AFL game
On Saturday evening, people going to the AFL game will travel by bus to Subiaco Oval.
After the footy, the bus will take you to your hotel, or anywhere else within reason.
If you are not going to the AFL game, you'll need to find your own way home. The cost is $35 each.
Avon Descent
Those going to the Avon Descent will be picked up from their hotels by the buses.
We'll let you know the pick up times and places at the conference.
After the Avon Descent, the buses will take you to a food hall for lunch,
and then drop you back at the conference. Keen cyclists can ride to the
Avon Descent with an experienced local rider. If you are not going to the Avon Descent,
you will have to make your own way to the conference, which starts at 1:45pm,
in the Ross Lecture theatre in the Physics Department at the University of Western Australia.
The Avon Descent outing costs $15 each.
